NPCI, Maha Metro, and HDFC Bank Roll Out RuPay On-The-Go Pune Metro Payments

RuPay On-The-Go Pune Metro

Pune: The RuPay On-The-Go Pune Metro initiative has been launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in collaboration with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and HDFC Bank, the exclusive acquirer bank for Pune Metro.

With this rollout, commuters can tap their existing RuPay On-The-Go (OTG) cards to travel across all operational stations of Pune Metro using contactless and interoperable payment solutions.

The implementation went live in the presence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis.

Pune Metro, which has been enabling commuters through paper and mobile QR tickets and HDFC Bank One Pune NCMC RuPay cards, now offers an enhanced travel experience with the introduction of open-loop RuPay On-The-Go acceptance.

Through the RuPay On-The-Go Pune Metro development, any existing or new RuPay On-The-Go card can be used to tap and travel across the Aqua and Purple lines, covering all 29 operational stations.

The advancement will provide daily passengers with a unified, convenient, and seamless way to travel, allowing officegoers, students, and travellers to use the same card across the entire network.

It simplifies commuting by eliminating the need to buy separate tickets for every trip or for different metro lines.

RuPay On-The-Go card further supports interoperability across various buses and metros, and features offline payment capability, ensuring consistent consumer experience even in low-network areas.

RuPay On-The-Go Pune Metro acceptance contributes to broader NCMC adoption across various metro and bus networks nationwide, accelerating India’s transition to smart mobility infrastructure and providing passengers with a simplified and consistent travel experience.

Users can avail the RuPay On-The-Go card not just in Pune, but also across a growing list of transit networks, including metros in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kanpur, as well as bus services in cities like Mumbai (B.E.S.T), Guwahati, Haryana, Jammu, Srinagar, Himachal, and Aurangabad.
